Kelowna RCMP officers, suspect injured during arrest
Three members of the Kelowna RCMP were injured while trying to stop an altercation at a restaurant.
Officers and members of the Integrated Crisis Response Team were dispatched to a restaurant in the 2100-block og Harvey Avenue to respond to a report of a distraught man involved in a physical altercation around 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27.
The man was taken into custody but did suffer undisclosed injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The RCMP said three officers were injured in the altercation and also taken to hospital for treatment, though were later discharged to recover at their homes.
“This is now an ongoing criminal investigation, and we will respect the privacy of the officers and all others involved,” Cpl. Michael Gauthier, Kelowna RCMP Media Relations Officers, stated.
“Anyone who may have witnessed this incident and has yet to speak with the police, is asked to phone the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-330 and refence file number 2025-4816.”
