Update: Police investigating dead person found in park
UPDATE June 23, 2024
There was very little new information from Kelowna RCMP on the weekend regarding the woman’s body that was discovered in Waterfront Park on Friday morning.
The area south of Tugboat Bay was blocked off and police set up a big tent as they began their investigation.
Authorities say she was 28 years old but did not provide an identification or the cause of death.
“No other details about her identity can be provided at this time,” Sergeant Judith Bertrand, Media Relations Officer for the Kelowna Regional Detachment, said.
Bertrand said there is nothing at this time to suggest an increased risk to public safety.
“We are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Kelowna RCMP. To remain anonymous, please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net,” Bertrand added.
UPDATE
RCMP say the body of a female was found in a Kelowna park Friday morning.
“At approximately 7 a.m. on June 21, a female was located deceased on the shores of Okanagan Lake in Waterfront Park,” a RCMP news release stated.
Sgt. Laura Pollock, media relations officer, said Kelowna RCMP and the BC Coroner Service are working together to identity the person and determine the cause of death with no word at this point if criminality was a factor.
“No further information will be released at this time as it is an active investigation,” Pollock said.
Updates will be provided when available.
