Hand launch docks could improve lake access
A Facebook post from Tourism Sault Ste Marie could be the answer local governments are looking for when it comes to improving lake access for human powered watercraft like kayaks and canoes.
The social media post was shared by a resident wondering if the launches would work for local lakes.
The Dock Doctor Commercial hand launch system starts at $20,000 USD
Coldstream Mayor Jim Garlick told a Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce virtual town hall meeting on Thursday, June 17, that congestion at Kalamalka Lake boat launches will be a given in the future.
Sault Ste Marie City Council approved $80,000 to install two hand launch docks to improve access and safety, especially for those new to paddling sports.
There is also an optional system available for disabled paddlers to get on the water.
