Evacuation order lifted for Parker Cove
After more than 20 days under an evacuation order, residents affected by the flooding of Whiteman’s Creek are able to return to their homes.
The Okanagan Indian Band rescinded the evacuation order for all properties in the Parker Cove Community at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 25.
Evacuation orders were issued for residents on the south side of Falcon Avenue adjacent to Whiteman’s Creek at 3 a.m. May 2, and at approximately 9 p.m. that same day, an order was issued for more properties on that street, including neighbours across the road on the north side.
At 3:30 p.m. on May 4 orders were issued for select properties on Deer Street, Elk Street and Lakeshore Drive, and at noon May 5, orders were issued for even more properties on Falcon Avenue.
The OKIB also rescinded the evacuation alert for properties on Grouse Avenue, Lakeshore Drive, Deer Street, Elk Street and Falcon Avenue. That alert was put in place at 9 p.m. May 2.
The local state of emergency that was issued by the OKIB May 1 was also rescinded Thursday.
