Lynx Air to offer flights between Kelowna and Toronto
A discount airline is offering a new route out of Kelowna this spring.
Starting April 13, Lynx Air will be providing flights between Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
Initially, there will be three flights a week for that route, with plans to increase it to four times a week starting June 4.
The YLW to YYZ flights will be offered as a seasonal summer service only, and the airline did not state if it would be a returning feature next summer or expanded into a year-long route in the future.
“April is our one-year anniversary of having Lynx operating at YLW and providing affordable options for Okanagan residents,” Sam Samaddar, Airport Director, Kelowna International Airport, said.
“I am happy to see Lynx expand and offer routes to popular destinations, such as Toronto.”
Lynx Air announced the new YLW to YYZ route along with a new service between Vancouver and Hamilton, Ontario. That route will start April 16 and will also be a seasonal summer product.
“As Canadians look to book their summer vacation, we are excited to offer more ultra-affordable links between the communities of Kelowna, Toronto, Hamilton and Vancouver,” Merren McArthur, CEO of Lynx, said.
“We know the airline industry has had some challenges over the last 12 months and we want to assure Canadians that they can book with confidence on Lynx. I am proud to say that since our launch in April 2022, Lynx has had the lowest cancellation rate in Canada. Whether you are flying to visit loved ones or for a well-earned vacation, Lynx Air will provide a great flying experience at an ultra-affordable price.”
Both the Kelowna/Toronto and the Vancouver/Hamilton routes will operate as “through flights” via Calgary International Airport.
