License plate slogans fail to make grade

The Insurance Corporation of BC says a third of nearly 9,500 requests it received for personalized licence plates last year were rejected.
It says slogans that were not allowed include ZOOOM, U2SLOW and BLUBYU — which were denied due to references to risky driving behaviour.
Others including BADASS, BADMAN and PIGGY were deemed derogatory, sexually suggestive, offensive or bullying — while requests can also be rejected for violating trademarks or because slogans are already taken.
ICBC says it’s seen an increase in requests for personalized plates in recent years and recommends drivers review the criteria and guidelines before submitting their application.
