Last Blockbuster Spurs Memories of Old Ads

Over the weekend, my wife and I watched the new Netflix documentary The Last Blockbuster.
The title says it all, it revolves around the ongoing future of last remaining Blockbuster Video stores, in Bend, Oregon.
Also mixed in are interviews with former Blockbuster stakeholders and franchisees, and a plethora of actor/comedians recounting their own video store memories.

It was a nostalgic look down memory lane, an icon of the not-so-distant past. The origin and explosion of the chain was definitely interesting, as was the daily grind the General Manager of (what becomes) the last operating Blockbuster Video store.  The endless parade of personalities regurgitating the same video-going experience became monotonous by the 75 minute mark, however.

Still, worth the look for some retro-viewing flashbacks!

Afterward, we opened Youtube and went down a rabbit hole of old Blockbuster Video ads, including the rabbit and guinea pig mascots (voiced by James Woods and Jim Belushi!).
